Chocolate Chip Cookies

My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

T
his recipe is painted on an antique sign that I have hanging in my kitchen. I modified it slightly to better explain the technique. It produces wonderful chocolate chip cookies  (about two dozen)!

Ingredients:

  • 2 ¼ cups All-purpose flour
  • 1tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened (I like to use Kerrygold unsalted and at room temperature it makes a big difference in the outcome)
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup Brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup, semi-sweet chocolate chip morsels (Although I use high quality milk chocolate)

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees (350 if convection – and convection works better)
  • Sift and combine flour, baking soda and salt, set aside
  • In a mixer, or another bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamed
  • Add brown sugar and vanilla, continue mixing
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time
  • Gradually stir in flour mixture – do not over-mix the dry and wet ingredients
  • Drop by spoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet about 2 -3-inches apart
  • Bake at 375 degrees (or 350 convection) about 7-12 minutes, until the edges become golden brown
  • Remove and cool on a cooling rack
