Rough Start

This trip has had a rough start —

For some time now, I have searched for books from a science fiction writer Martin Millar (funny Kurt Vonnegut style).  I ordered one from Amazon.com and it arrived about two days ago.  I threw it in my bag to read on this trip.

I got to the airport, pulled out my book, turned to the first page, and realized that it was in GERMAN!  So much for reading on this trip

Happily, I was upgraded.  On my first flight, they served dinner.  I drank two Baileys before dinner and a glass of tempranillo with dinner (tortellini) and about an hour later felt sick to my stomach.

I connected in Dallas and had just enough time to make my flight to Las Vegas (DFW is huge and you have to take a train to the other terminals). I make my flight.  I am feeling green.  I arrive in Las Vegas at 11:00pm local time.  It takes about 1/2 hr before they begin unloading the bags.  I am waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

Finally, my smaller bag comes out.  Then the belt stops.  I am still waiting.  I went to the service desk to find out that while I made my connecting flight, one of my bags did not — the one with my clothes in it!!!

However, it will be delivered to my hotel room by 9:30 tomorrow AM.  Now, I have my first meeting at 7:15AM!  In addition, the hotel will not deliver the luggage unless I am in the room.

I am beyond grumpy.  And, if anything — anything at all — is missing from my bag (including my good shoes), I will sue the airline for the costs of new clothes and the cost of my shoes (which is allot).

I am hoping things get better from here.
