The Lunch Spot

In every job I have ever worked, there was always one or two places that I would inevitably frequent on a weekly basis.  At my current job, I eat at a wonderful little Cuban spot called Habana that makes humble, delicious authentic Cuban-style food.  Run by an immigrant family, the restaurant's front-of-the-house is run by two sisters and their spouses/extended family operate the kitchen.

As a personal fan of tasting menus, I can never decide on one dish.  So, when I go to Habana, I order a series of appetizers, including: the beef empanadas, which they serve with a spicy brown sauce; the chorizo and sautéed onions, the yucca fritas with guacamole (they are like French fries made from Yuca );  shrimp in a garlic sauce and sometimes arros con frejoles negros (rice with black beans). After eating the shrimp, I put the garlic sauce on top of my rice and beans – like a mojo –  it is delicious. I always order the mango milkshake!

Habana Restaurant is just good, homemade ethnic cuisine fills my body and soul when I eat there.
