Popcorn, Riesling and Song
Most commuters have quirky habits that they exhibit while driving. Have you ever looked over at the person in the lane next to you to find them eating, talking on the phone and trying to read something all at the same time? What about the guy that picks his nose or the woman that plucks her eyebrows. Well, my quirky commuting habit involves singing along to the radio, at the top of my lungs (which happens to be a fabulous way to manage stress).
So, while walking into work this morning, I run into one of our ad agency staff in the elevator, who greets me and asks me where I live. After telling him, he says, "Oh, I thought I saw you each morning while driving in, I guess I was right."
Images of him witnessing my embarrassing semi-private moment immediately rushed through my brain, flushing my cheeks bright red to match my hair.
So, I sit here tonight, contemplating this and other interesting moments from my difficult week as I nibble on a bowl of freshly popped popcorn and truffle oil (a recommendation from my friend CinDee) and drink a lovely Alsace Grand Cru Reisling, Wunsch et Mann 2003. I must say that the salt from the popcorn cuts right through the acidity of this crisp, dry Riesling, leaving me with an apple-lemon finish. Overall, it is a splendid combination.
Happy Friday J
